Newly Qualified Crew Q & A

In 2004 a member needs to make up one hour as a coxswain, but AUXDATA will not

give him orders because he is REYR. I assume that he goes out with another coxswain on orders, acts as coxswain for an hour, and then the FC sends a letter to DIRAUX stating he has completed 2003 requirements and requesting he be reinstated as current. Is this TRUE??

Situation 2: A PWC operator is short 1 hour at the end of 2003. He cannot get orders in 2004 until he makes up that hour, but he cannot make up the hour because he cannot get orders and he will be on the facility by himself. What is the approved procedure for a PWC operator getting out of REYR status?

Good question...but the premise is wrong.  If a member does only 7 hours or has 4 hours or has none, or does not have a required Task, or is does not have a current Check Ride or does not have a current NAVRULES (Coxswains), they will be REYRed and will have to all recertify the exact same way.

All members who do not meet currency maintenance (it does not matter how much, if any, they did the year before) have to do the following to recertify:

1.    Conduct 8 hours as a trainee (even if they did 7 hours the year before)

2.    Conduct the 4 tasks as a trainee (even if they did them the year before and were REYRed because they only did 7 hours or did not have current QE Check Ride or Did not have current NAVRULES)

3.    Check the date of their last QE Check Ride and verify that it is up-to-date (within 5 years)

4.    Check the date of their last NAVRULES (coxswains only) and verify that it up-to-date (within 5 years)

5.    Notify their FC that the above is accomplished and provide documents to prove the same

6.    FC will notify me and provide documents to prove the same (see Directive titled 2004 REYR Policy)

 For PWCs A certified=

Operator has to obtain the orders for the PWCs that they will ride and the

trainee must be under the certified PWO's control...same as for new trainees.
